Hi. Ben Woodworth here for our last video reflection on what we learned and three takeaways from our class over the last eight weeks. My first one is use of technology. What I want to do is make sure I use technology in a more deliberate or intentional manner, follow the Bernhard and Kavanagh (2023) article where they talk about using a checklist (for EdTech). I used to be a pilot so I have a checklist mentality, so what I would like to do is incorporate technology and EdTech into my weekly, monthly, and quarterly planning in a more intentional manner than I have in the past. Second takeaway, I want to make sure I am thinking of technology as a means and not an end unto itself. Technology is a way for us to improve student outcomes, and sometimes technology becomes the dominate feature within the classroom on the activity we are doing, and I want to make sure we are focused on the fact that the technology is a means to an end with the end being better student outcomes. The third takeaway that I have is differentiation. I had never thought of differentiation in educational technology, but it does make sense. So, I want to make sure that I am following Tomlinson (2017) principles regarding the use of differentiation in all manners of education to include educational technology. I will have to make a little bit of effort to think of technology along those lines and ensure that I meet students according to their readiness, ability and learning preferences. Have a great day.
